Registry

If you know us, you know we share a mutual passion for travel. However, having met just before a global pandemic, our passports haven’t spent much time together. It would be incredibly meaningful to know you were a part of making our first big trip a reality.

We have spent the past six months making House of Holly our own—and most importantly, making it a unique escape for our wedding guests. Owning a home is one of our most exciting and rewarding adventures yet, and it would fill us with so much joy to have you contribute toward the progress we will make.

Our Story

Rick and Melinda often wonder how many times they just missed meeting each other after 10 years of living in the same city—and at times, just streets away in the same San Diego neighborhood.

With a little help from modern-day technology, it finally happened.

It was the first Friday morning of September 2019. Melinda was sipping her morning coffee while checking her messages on a dating app. She scrolled down and noticed an abandoned conversation with a very cute guy from months before.

“Hey! How is your day?”

“Good! How’s yours?”

“Good!”

The end.

She looked at his profile again and thought, “Wait, why didn’t this go anywhere?” When she reached out to reconnect, Rick was quick to respond.

After talking nonstop the entire day, they spontaneously decided to meet in 20 minutes for one “no pressure” beer at a casual restaurant halfway between each other’s houses with one rule: come as they were—no dressing up.

Rick showed up in a pair of board shorts and his favorite red tattered tank top from Bali, attached by a thread on one shoulder. Melinda had no time to disguise her bright red sunburn. And yet there were sparks—he introduced her to his friends the very next day and took her out on their first “real” date the next week—Italian seafood on the water followed by dessert in Little Italy.

They’ve been inseparable ever since.

When it came to proposing, Rick knew he wanted it to be a surprise, but (as many know) Melinda is impossible to hide anything from. So he did what she would never see coming: he put the ring on her finger while she was sleeping.

And that’s how Rick & Melinda woke up engaged on a perfect late Spring day. Since then, they’ve bought the home they will marry in, and on another perfect late Spring day, they look forward to welcoming their friends and family for the party of the century.
